Wow! I'm really behind in the blogging world. I don't have time like I used to to sit down and really think about my blogging. Here's an attempt at an update of the last couple of weeks...
The biggest event- Koby is gone. Our 5 year old Golden Retriever was given to the Golden Retriever Rescue just about a week ago. This was a bittersweet day for us. We picked Koby and took him home when he was a puppy. He was a frisky little red coated thing. Always curious and a little hyper. He was our baby...until we had real babies. :) His shedding and rambunctious, curious behavior was not a good mix with having infants in the house and so he became more of an outside guy. This has never been a great idea, because Goldens need more attention than that. In addition to this, he has always been a little high maintenance medically. In the past year, since we've moved to Georgia, he's been to the vet at least 10 times for seemingly random conditions. Mostly infections and things stemming from his allergies, but a lot of it seemed random, but cost us a LOT of money! Also, with as much as we travel, he was in the kennel quite a bit. All of these things combined led us to really think about our needs and his needs and we decided to contact the Golden Retriever Rescue of Atlanta to see if there was a good match for him. They contacted us immediately to let us know they'd be happy to have him! These people are crazy about these dogs and it makes us happy to know Koby will be getting lots of love and attention. We hope to keep in contact with his future owners. We know he'll be in good hands. It was hard for us and for Carley, but it's the best decision for all of us at this point in our lives.
Last Wednesday we left for a family visit in Missouri. It's always so good to be with family! The main attraction of the weekend was the MU Homecoming parade. We went on Saturday and it was wonderful! I'll post pictures when we get back to Georgia. We've also gotten to visit with friends, celebrate Grandpa's 87th birthday and cousin Dezia's 4th birthday! My mom has also recently moved to her own little place in Mexico, same town where we grew up and where my Dad and Grandma live. This is SUCH a good thing and we're excited to have everyone in the same place. Makes our life a lot easier when we come back for a visit! Carley has especially had a good time seeing friends and spending time with Papa and Grandma, Nana Terri, Uncle Brady and Aunt Kate. It's good to know we'll be back in just a couple months for Christmas!
Graham's first airplane ride was GREAT! Aside from hauling all of the "gear" with two kids, the travel was super. We flew standby, but got seats all together. Graham was awake most of the flight and was SO good! One of the down sides of our growing family is that when our family of four- with all our gear- game to the airport, we had to be picked up in TWO cars. :( I feel bad. We're no longer a family who can really share a car with others unless it's a BIG car. I guess that's just how it is! I am so thankful everyone is so willing to be flexible for us.
Anyway- as soon as we get back we are hitting the ground running with Halloween get-togethers and trick or treating on Friday. It really seems like the next couple months are PACKED with travel and events, but we'll get through it! We're looking forward to the holiday seasons with more family and friends!
I'll post pictures when we get back home. :)
