Fun Halloween Week!

This week has been a fun week! A week of "recovery" as well. It seems that whenever we go on a trip (last week to MO) I have a few days of recovery when we get back. Getting the house back in order, lots of laundry and unpacking, getting back into our routine!

The day after we got back, Carley had her Halloween party at school. She got to dress up in her costume for the first time to go to school. She was a SUPER cute bumble bee! (Thanks for the costume, Nana Libsack!) She and her friends ate lots of snacks, went on a pumpkin hunt, did a little craft and played. I love her class there because her friend Wes is in her class, the two teachers are wonderful and there are only SIX kids in her class! It's two mornings a week, which is perfect. Next year...PRE-K???? That's a whole other blog! :)

Thursday we had a playdate with some neighbor friends. Our friend Emily has twins who are almost three named Emma and Colton. They are too cute! Unfortunately, Libby (who was also supposed to be at the playdate) was in the hospital that day getting fluids because she's been so sick with her pregnancy. Poor thing! We're hoping she gets better in the next few weeks. Being sick is no fun.

Thursday night we had our first FIRE in the fireplace...which didn't go so well. The damper wasn't open all the way, so it got a little smokey. Syd was so frustrated. After the fire went out, he figured out the damper and all is well now for future fires. Our house also still smells a bit like...fire. On the other hand, when they are operating as they should- real fires smell SO good!!!!! It reminds me of Colorado...even though our fireplace there was gas. The nights lately have been really cool so we've had a fire just about every night. We are officially fireplace people! It's so cozy. Mmmmm.....fire.....

We also finally carved our pumpkin the night before Halloween. Better late than never! Carley had fun feeling the squishy pumpkin insides and helping mommy clean and roast the seeds. She was also amazed at the glowing jack-o-lantern concept when we put a candle inside. It was a productive pumpkin night...that's for sure. The seeds were really good- salty...but good. We may have eaten them all in one night. ;)
Yesterday- HALLOWEEN!!! Yesterday afternoon we got dressed early and went trick-or-treating at our friends Eric and Cheri's house before coming back to our neighborhood. We had some pizza with the Christiansen's (which I guess could be considered tradition since we did it last year?!) before taking Carley and Wes trick-or-treating in the neighborhood. Rocky, the class pet, was with Wes, so he went too. We saw lots of neighborhood friends when we were out. Carley was, of course, a bumble bee, and Graham was a caterpillar. His costume was SOOOO cute, but he wasn't so fond of it. It was a pretty smooth evening until Carley went trick or treating at one of those houses that was all decked out in spooky decorations and lights...and there was a scary dressed up person on the porch... not the best idea. She really wanted to go, so we said ok! But she came back crying and couldn't recover. She didn't cry long...but was then constantly talking about or looking around for the "scariness". She was really spooked! Libby told her that after she left the scary guy's mommy came outside and put him in time out. That seemed to help a lot. As of today, that's where she'll tell you the scary guy is!

That's it for now! Today has been a tag-team marathon cleaning day! Woohoo!

Happy November! Don't forget to set your clocks back!

Ready to go!
